My name is Malcolm Watson and I have been living with RA for over forty years. I was diagnosed after finding it difficult to move whilst on Holiday; however I was told I had RA, which I didn't know what it stood for, and would be on tablets the rest of my life. Having been put on Sulfasalazine initially I am now on Methotrexate. I have found that Diet, exercise and a positive outlook are the best medication!
My experience of physical activity: I was always active playing sports and running. I stopped these in my early thirties exacerbated by RA. However, since then I have remained active, walking most days, going to the Gym three times a week, riding my bike on the other two days & playing the occasional game of golf.
Why I wanted to get involved in MISSION-RA: To learn, to share experiences and help others realise they are not alone and there is hope.
